Towards the end of July 2011 we photographed the wedding of Kelly and Mike who had chosen two venues we were already familiar with – the lovely St Leonard’s Church in Beoley with the reception at The Forest Hotel in Dorridge.
Sarah started off covering the boy’s morning preparations in Droitiwch (including feeding the gerbils – see pictures) while I began my day at a local hair salon where Kelly, her mum and one of her bridesmaids were booked in for an appointment. We’ve done ‘morning’ photos at salons before and it’s often difficult to avoid being ‘in the way’ of a busy hairdresser’s on a Saturday morning. But the staff at Enzos in Dorridge were great and the cup of tea was most welcome 🙂
St Leonard’s is always a pleasure to work at. It’s a small, quaint church with a very long history and a welcoming, friendly vicar, David Rogers. Following the service, we got the family group photos completed in the church grounds and kept Kelly and Mike back for a few minutes while everyone else made their way to The Forest.
The Forest is a stylish little hotel tucked away in the centre of Dorridge. Although it has no grounds, it’s just around the corner from Dorridge Park, which is where we did the majority of Kelly and Mike’s ‘couple’ photos. This was in stark contrast to the last time we photographed a wedding at The Forest! It’s one of the those venues that deserves to be better known as they run things very well and it never feels over-fussy or cramped, despite it’s relatively small size.
We’d like to thank Kelly and Mike (and one of his ushers – sorry, can’t remember your name!) for keeping us fed and watered through the day. We like eating at The Forest 🙂
