In August 2012, we returned to the Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings for the wedding of Emma and Chris.
Both Emma and Chris got ready in Bromsgove – Chris at his mum’s house and Emma at the Holiday Inn. Emma had eight bridesmaids so the hotel room was somewhat…busy! Chris was a very nervous groom, so, rather than add to his nerves, Sarah remembering her own nerves on our wedding day last year, decided to leave his portrait until later in the day. Chris’ mum Julie picked up on this and sent us a lovely blog comment:
“Thank you so much Sarah & Rob – you were part of what made the day special with your sensitivity and will be part of the beautiful memories of the day we will all have through your special photos.”
Although we’ve photographed many weddings at Avoncroft, this was the first time we’d seen a blessing in addition to a civil marriage service. The Bringsty Common Mission Church is used for blessings. Originally sited in the parish of Whitbourne, Herefordshire, the church is a tiny wooden building which only just about held everyone – all of Emma and Chris’ guests, two musicians, the vicar – and us!
A huge thank-you to Emma and Chris for asking us to photograph their fantastic wedding. They even seated us with their guests for the wedding breakfast, very kind, thank you.

For the wedding breakfast, we were sat with the guests. Emma and Chris had even got us our own Avoncroft bricks as keepsakes! 🙂
