“Our photos……..there are no words. That slide show…..*teary eyes*. We went home and watched a couple of times and my Mum and Dad are booking train tickets today to come up and see them with us on Wednesday – so hopefully this gives you a sense of just how much we love them. We’ll then excitedly show Tom’s mum next month when she visits and then let all our friends and family see them.“
It’s enormously satisfying to receive a response like the one above from Jo and Tom. Theirs was our first wedding for 2017, held three weeks into the new year. After finding us online, Jo and Tom had latched on to the more documentary elements of our work and felt we were (to quote) “a perfect fit”. They wanted a wedding that above all else was relaxed and enjoyable for their guests. They had booked a date in the depths of winter and were not only fully aware of the possible limitations , but actually looked forward to them. To paraphrase Jo’s initial enquiry:
“As a winter wedding we’ve thoroughly embraced all that this will entail and are fully prepared to don our wedding wellies to get a couple of beautiful shots together to capture the weather rather than hide away from it. Of course we’ll be keeping our guests warm inside. If it’s crisp, sunny or even snowy then what a bonus. We’re going for a luxurious but warm/cosy look with a neutral colour palette and plenty of candles….candles everywhere. We’re really hoping to craft as many personal touches into our day as we can. “We love your style – it’s exactly the look that we’re going for. Whilst we would like a few posed shots, we really want the majority to have a more natural ‘in the moment’ look, capturing ourselves, friends, family and to remember all our little touches”.
Jo and Tom’s venue of choice was Hampton Manor – a really popular wedding venue located in the village of Hampton-in-Arden, just outside Solihull. It’s a venue that works really well for winter weddings due to the dedicated interior spaces for the civil ceremony, drinks reception and meal. It has plenty of space for guests if they wish to stay inside, but the grounds are wonderful too and look great even on a cold January day.
This was one of those wedding where everything just flowed nicely. At no point did anything feel rushed and we had ample time for everything that we like to do. Jo and Tom’s plans for a relaxed wedding were realised beautifully, the atmosphere wonderful and the day was an absolute joy to photograph. An enormous thank-you to Jo and Tom for making us part of your big day. We really enjoyed it. 🙂
