Recently, we photographed a wedding that had a slightly different twist to it. Hannah and Matthew actually got married (in Wales) earlier in the year, but due to circumstances at the time were not able to host a large party to celebrate. This was rectified last month when we returned to Avoncroft Museum for their blessing and reception party.
Arranged and booked in a short space of time, Hannah and Matthew had pulled together a lovely day. The blessing – held in Avoncroft’s Mission Church building, was a simple ceremony with music and readings from friends and family. By pure coincidence, Avoncroft was hosting one of its public jousting events on the same day and during the drinks reception Hannah and Matthew sat in the ‘king and queen’ chairs to oversee the tournament. Not exactly an event you see at many weddings! 🙂
The meal was an informal buffet, provided by our friends Colin and Debbie at Complete Caterers.
With the meal over, we took Hannah and Matthew on a tour of the Avoncroft grounds before the evening party began with music provided by a céilidh band including Hannah’s father and sister. These are always fun to photograph as most of the guests end up on the dance floor.
This a completely relaxed and informal day and although many ‘wedding’ elements were in place, it didn’t have the time-urgency or formality that we normally have to work with. Big congratulations and thanks to Hannah and Matthew and we hope you like your pictures.
