As much as we love many of the venues we see in local area, it’s always nice to go a little further afield.   Last September, we made our way over to the East Midlands for the wedding of Ottilie and James.  Cripps Hazel Gap Barn, located on the Welbeck Estate near Mansfield in Nottinghamshire, was not yet complete at the time Ottilie and James booked it for their wedding.   It’s a beautiful red-brick building which has been lovingly converted from a working farm building into a thriving wedding venue.

There’s no ‘getting ready’ facilities at the venue, but couples have a choice of local hotels to use.  Ottilie and James were both at the Clumber Park Hotel – they needed somewhere just a short distance from the venue as Ottilie arrived in a beautiful horse-drawn carriage.  It’s not often we see a bride arrive in this manner and it’s always a treat.

This was a beautiful sunny day, nice and warm without being too hot.  In contrast to the dazzlingly bright conditions outside, the light level in the barn was low so we really had our work cut out. Always up for a challenge! :-)

This was just a wonderful, emotional day from start to finish with a lovely bunch of people.  We really liked Hazel Gap too – a beautiful wedding venue that is run superbly.  Enjoy the pictures….
