Sarah and Mickey came to us as a direct result of seeing the work we did for Hannah and Ben, whose wedding we photographed back in 2010. They had chosen a church very local to us – Shirley Baptist Church, which sits on the main high street in Shirley, Solihull. Their reception was held at a venue we have worked at many times in the past – Henley-in-Arden Golf & Country Club.
This was quite a large wedding – around 150 guests – with tea and cake served directly after the church service. This gave us ample opportunity to get candid photos within the the church’s lovely red-brick interior.
This was a very hot day, with the temperatures hovering around the 30c mark, but a little bit of cloud took some of the sting out of the sunshine. It also helped that the main room at Henley was air-conditioned, giving everyone a couple of hours to get cooled down after the earlier heat.
After arriving at Henley, we got the family groups done nice and quickly (managing to keep everyone in the shade!). Although we did some photos of the couple alone before going in for food, the main session was later into the evening. It was still very warm indeed, but the light was much more forgiving as we took Sarah and Mickey into a nearby rapeseed field. Hats off to Sarah for scaling the fence in her wedding dress!
This was a fun wedding with a huge ‘family’ feel to it, due in no small part to Sarah and Mickey’s involvement with their church. We were very thankful to them for sitting us with their guests for the main meal – indeed they sat us on the same table as Hannah and Ben so we didn’t feel left out! A really nice touch and one we very much appreciated.
