“We really love them!! Thank you so much!”
Early in April we were back at Highbury Hall in Birmingham for a Spring wedding with a slightly different twist.
Katherine and Daniel booked us just over a year ago. Daniel is from Mexico and the guest list featured many friends and family from his home country, so the day was full of Latin influence.
The main hall of Highbury always looks beautiful but the couple had decorated it with delicately-cut paper illustrations and messages (mostly in Spanish). These gave a really personalised feel whilst maintaining the overall aesthetic of this very grand space.
Most of Katherine’s morning preparations were done at Highbury, in the ‘Miss Hilda’ room. Although you can’t stop there overnight, the venue always makes the room available to use on wedding days and it does make a lovely environment in which to start the day.
The civil wedding service – held in the elegant Drawing Room – was undertaken by two very friendly registrars who didn’t impose any of the silly restrictions on us that we see from some. The service was embellished with heartfelt readings by Katherine’s sister and mum and also Daniel’s parents who delivered their reading in Spanish.
The little Mexican touches – including a really striking ‘Day Of The Dead’ cake topper and of course the traditional downings of Tequila – added an extra dimension , but above all, this was a wedding with a strong sense of friendship and family. A big-thank you to Katherine and Daniel, hope your pictures do your day justice 🙂
