Yvonne and Nick’s wedding in July, saw us return to Moor Hall Hotel in Sutton Coldfield. a venue we’d not seen in about three years.
Nick was friends with Sarah several years ago before losing contact, but thanks to Facebook, he had got in touch again when it was time to plan their wedding photography.
I dropped Sarah off with Nick and his groosmen at the couple’s home in Cannock and then made my way to Moor Hall to meet up with Yvonne and her bridesmaids.
For the wedding service itself, Nick and Yvonne struck lucky with their allocated registrar. We’ve met Steven several times over the years and he’s always struck us as one of the best registrars in the Birmingham area. Witty, sharp and professional, but always with a hint of fun in the way he delivers the ceremony and importantly for us – no unnecessary obstruction to photographing the couple’s service.
Once the service was complete, the drinks reception started outside in Moor Hall’s nicely kept gardens. Violinist and singer Rebecca Kelly provided the musical backdrop as the guests relaxed in the afternoon sun.
Following the (excellent) speeches, we took Nick and Yvonne away from the crowd for a while to get the all-important photos of them alone. Moor Hall has an interesting walled garden area which can provide a really lovely quality of light and also marks the start of a woodland path which goes even further back. We used as much of this area as we had time for, before the the first dance (something Nick was definitely not looking forward to) and evening party.
An enormous thank-you to Nick and Yvonne for being such great people to work with. We even got sat with the guests for the wedding breakfast (and very nice it was too!).
So here are a few pictures from the big day.
Nick shows his obvious joy at the start of the first dance!
