“The photos look brilliant!”
In June, we returned to our favourite Avoncroft Museum for the wedding of Ana and Matt, who booked us nearly two years in advance. Their ceremony was held at St Mary’s church in Oldswinford.
We started the day in Stourbridge. Matt and his groomsmen got ready at his parents’ home. A last-minute surprise had been arranged – the men were being taken to the church by Ghostbusters car! Ana, her mum and bridesmaids – including Ana’s twin sister – got ready at the couple’s own home nearby. Ana was transported to the church in a fabulous open-top 2CV.
Following the service the wedding party made its way to Avoncroft for the reception. The rain we had experienced earlier eased off and Ana and Matt were able to use the open-top 2CV as it was intended to make their entrance at the venue.
Ana and Matt very kindly sat us with their guests for the meal. This isn’t something we ever ask for or expect (and of course it’s usually not possible) but it is *so* appreciated. Catering was provided by our friends Colin and Debbie at Complete Caterers and the food – as ever – was excellent.
We opted to do most of the couple photographs later in the day, after the meal and speeches. By this time the rain had gone completely and we had a nice evening to enjoy out around the museum. This was also the first time we’d had the opportunity to use Avoncroft’s latest exhibit – an ‘airing shelter’ transplanted from the site of a former hospital. We love all the buildings at Avoncroft and use as many of them as we can during photo sessions, but it’s always nice to have a new addition.
After a few tours on the miniature railway, the wedding party headed indoors for Ana and Matt’s first dance and then evening entertainment from the excellent Dilemma Council.
A lovely day and a lovely couple to work with. Thanks Ana and Matt, hope you love your pictures 🙂
