The day after the shortest day of 2012, we photographed the second of our pre-Christmas weddings.
Jenny and Scott booked us earlier in the summer and opted for our shorter coverage period of six hours, from the morning through to the point where everyone sat down for the wedding breakfast.
Their marriage ceremony took place at St Nicholas’ church in Kings Norton, Birmingham. We had never worked at St Nicholas’ before and we really liked it. The verger and vicar were extremely friendly and welcoming and the building itself is wonderful, with its huge spire and beautiful interior.
Unfortunately, as with the wedding we shot two days prior, the winter weather was very wet and us, our clothes and of course the camera equipment all got a good soaking.
The church service was lovely. It’s always nice to see vicars or officiants doing more than they “have to” and in this case the vicar really personalised the service for Jenny and Scott, with a nice dose of humour. Once everyone had left for the reception, we kept Jenny and Scott back for a few minutes for some photos of them around the church.
The reception was held at Avoncroft Museum near Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, where we did all the formal group photos and of course the main ‘couple’ session. The catering and overall running of the Avoncroft part of the day was handled by our friends Colin and Debbie of Complete Caterers. Everything ran to time and we had chance just before we left to do a nice setup shot with lighting by the phone boxes. The rain had started up again by this point so we had to get the shot done as quickly as possible!
Jenny and Scott were great to work with and had no problem at all about the wet conditions. We did get a lucky break in the weather just as we arrived at the reception, but of course the ground was soaking. Jenny’s wellies were much needed!
We really enjoyed working on Jenny and Scott’s wedding and we’d like to thank them for making us part of their big day.
