Spring Grove House Wedding – Vicky & Matt
Spring Grove House, located in the grounds of the West Midland Safari Park, has been a popular wedding venue for several years. The beautiful 17th century Georgian property and surrounding park provides a rich variety of photo opportunities and in September we made our first visit there for the wedding of Vicky and Matt.
Their actual wedding ceremony was held in Vicky’s home village of Astley, a few miles from Bewdley. St Peter’s is a lovely parish church and the vicar was welcoming and didn’t impose any silly restrictions on what we could photograph.
Once everyone had arrived at Spring Grove House it was time for the reception to get underway. The earlier inclement weather kept threatening to return so everyone stayed inside for drinks and canapés, while a steel pan player provided the musical backdrop. The rain didn’t stop Vicky and Matt’s ride on the carousel though! 🙂
After the speeches, it was time for a few photos of Vicky and Matt around the grounds. With the public all gone, we pretty much had the place to ourselves and we had the added bonus of some nice evening light too. The Safari Park has a display of full-size animatronic dinosaurs so we made good use them during the last few minutes of daylight (well, it would have been rude not to!).
By this time the evening guests had arrived and most people were to found in Cellarz – the arched cavern rooms which lie underneath the main house. This was a pretty cool place for the guests to relax while the main function room was turned around in time for the band to play their first set. Still to come though was the spectacular firework display on the rear lawn – a perfect way for us to round off this fantastic day. A big thank you Vicky and Matt for asking us to photograph their wedding – and also for the food which was lovely 🙂
