“We’ve just looked through them all and we love them. Again, thank you for taking such beautiful photos and for travelling all the way up to Sheffield to photograph our wedding!”
As with many of our couples who have been affected by the Covid pandemic, Mike and Kerry’s wedding journey deviated from the original plan and ended up being altogether something different from what they had originally planned. They booked us what now seems like very long time ago indeed for a full day at a venue in Warwickshire with all of their family and friends.
But then Covid happened. And although at first it seemed like their 2021 wedding wouldn’t be affected, as we moved through the year it became apparent that their date would need to be postponed. So after waiting for the government announcement in January, Mike and Kerry decided they “just wanted to get married” and moved their date by just a few weeks to take place shortly after the restrictions began to be lifted.
But the date wasn’t the only change Mike and Kerry made. They had to downsize their wedding plans considerably – down to 15 people in total and because of this they decided to move the whole wedding back to their home city of Sheffield at a beautiful, homely venue called The Chimney House located on the historic area of Kelham Island.
As part of the downsizing, it was just Robin who travelled up from the Midlands on a wet and windy day to photograph Mike and Kerry’s wedding. Although the rain meant that outdoor time had to be limited, they did get to go for a ride in the camper van around Sheffield city centre which at least gave them a bit of time together, with a quick photo stop at the famous mural “The Snog” by local artist Pete McKee.
But despite the rain, despite the limitations and despite the short guest list, this was an absolutely lovely day and a joy to photograph. A really big thank you Mike and Kerry. Enjoy the pictures…
