Choosing a wedding photographer involves an investment of trust and time – and we think it helps to know exactly what you’re signing up for.

This page provides a straightforward overview of how we work with you, from the moment you first get in touch right through to receiving your finished photographs or completed wedding album.

The other pages shown here go deeper into our way of doing things – from working as a single photographer or as a team, as well how we cover the various parts of a wedding day.

Getting in touch

Before you first reach out to us, it’s worth taking a few minutes to make sure our work and approach suits the vision you have for your wedding.

  • Browse our portfolio and featured weddings to make sure our visual style feels right for you
  • Check our packages and pricing so you have an idea of costs and what’s included.
  • Have your confirmed wedding date and venue details to hand.

Once you’re ready, the easiest way to reach us is via our contact page or the WhatsApp button you’ll find in the lower-right corner of the website. We’ll come back to you quickly to confirm availability and, if we’re free, send you some more information on how we work along with full pricing.

We’ll also suggest a relaxed, no-obligation Zoom call so we can have a proper conversation. There’s no script, no sales pitch and no pressure – just a chance for us to find out a bit about your wedding and for you to ask us any questions you may have.

Bride chats with wedding guests during reception meal

Let’s have a chat

Having a meeting isn’t mandatory, but we find it’s always worthwhile just to make sure our values and style align with yours.  Most of our initial meetings are done over Zoom – it’s relaxed, flexible and means you can do it from the comfort of your own home. If you’d prefer to meet in person we’re open to that too, just ask.

Robin handles all of our initial enquiries and meetings, so you’ll be talking to the person who will actually be photographing your wedding from day one. There’s no set agenda. We’ll talk about your wedding day, what matters most to you, and how you’re thinking about photography. You can ask us anything – about how we work, what to expect on the day, or anything else that’s on your mind. We’ll be honest with you and won’t push you into a decision.

By the end of the call you should have a clear sense of whether we’re the right fit for each other – and that works both ways. We take on a limited number of weddings each year and we care as much about the right match as you do.

The Booking Process

Once you’re happy to go ahead, the process is straightforward. Robin will send you a link to our booking form and once that’s completed we’ll set up your contract for you to review and sign online. The whole process can be wrapped up in an afternoon.

The contract covers everything you need to know: the payment schedule, what you’ll receive, and our standard terms and conditions. It’s plain English and mostly common sense.

To secure your date we ask for a booking and reservation fee at the time of signing. Once paid, your date is then held exclusively for you and we won’t take any other enquiries for it. As required by UK law, you also have a 14-day cooling off period from the day after you sign.

Do your prices include VAT and travel?
We’re a tiny business so fall under the legal threshold for VAT, therefore no VAT is payable by you on any of our products or services. Travel costs are included in the quote we provide.

Can you hold our date for us?
No, sorry.  Dates can only be reserved with a signed contract and booking payment.

How much is the deposit?
For full-day bookings it’s £400.  For part-day it’s £200-£300 depending on a few factors.

How do we book you?
Simply send us a quick email to let us know you’d like to go ahead and we’ll start the process off for you.

Are you insured?
Of course. We carry full public liability and indemnity insurance and are happy to send our insurance documents to your venue if they require it.

Are you a proper business?
Absolutely and we have been since 2007.

The run-up to your day

Once you’re booked things will naturally go quiet, but Robin is always available to answer questions as they crop up. Whether it’s advice on timings, help thinking through the shape of your day, or just a quick reassurance that something will work.

We have a guide page to help you get the best from us on the day.  It’s a long, detailed page full of tips and guidance that you can refer back to as your plans take shape and the wedding day draws near.

All of our couples also get access to a personal scheduling page, so if you’d like a proper conversation at any point you can book yourself in for a call or Zoom at a time that suits you – no need to play email tennis to find a slot.

As your wedding approaches we’ll start gathering info about the specifics of  your day.  We will send you a link to our ‘Final Details Form’ which we need back a few weeks prior.  It includes contact details for key people, addresses, timings and a host of other information that we need to be able to work on the day.

Pre-Wedding Shoot

If you’d like a pre-wedding shoot, this is usually arranged for a few weeks before the wedding. It’s a relaxed, informal session and a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera before the big day – most couples who have a pre-wedding shoot enjoy the session and feel more confident about their ‘couple’ photos on the big day.

How do we book a pre-wedding shoot?
You can add a pre-wedding shoot onto your booking package, or you can request one at a later date.

When and where does the pre-wedding shoot take place?
Typically 3-10 weeks prior to the wedding date but this can be flexible.  Most of our shoots are done close to where we live – we use a lovely hilltop spot which is  quiet and has easy access but we’re open to suggestion if you’d like to use somewhere else that has relevance to you.

How much do you charge?
Pre-wedding shoots are £200 with Robin.  If you choose a location further away we may have to charge a little more.  If there’s any admission charges you’ll need to pay for yourselves and cover Robin as well as ensuring we are allowed to do the shoot on the premises.

We’re interested in making a Guest Book using pictures from our pre-wedding shoot – is this possible?
Yes, we offer a beautiful guest book as an option.  If this is something you’d like then let us know as early as possible as we’ll need to make sure the shoot is done with enough time for us to design and receive the Guest Book before your wedding.

Your wedding day

On the day itself, you won’t need to manage us. We know where we need to be, we understand how a wedding day flows, and we’re used to adapting when things don’t go entirely to plan, which can happen sometimes as is usually nothing to worry about.

For most of the day we work quietly in the background, staying alert to moments as they happen without interrupting the natural flow of things. We’ll be keeping an eye on the clock for you and when we do need to step in – for family photographs or your couple shoot – we do it efficiently and without fuss.

If you haven’t yet worked out how many hours of coverage you need, our wedding photography coverage guide walks through the options in detail.

If you’d like to read how we approach different parts of a wedding day, see the links at the end of this page.

After the wedding day

Once the wedding is done, Robin gets straight to work on your pictures. If you’ve requested a ‘sneak peek’ when we’ll get those prepared for you within a few days, however many of our couples prefer to wait until the full set is ready and they can see their presentation slideshow.

The full set of edited images typically takes around four weeks to complete, though we’ll always keep you informed if it’s likely to be longer. When they’re ready, Robin will get in touch personally to let you know your pictures are ready to view. You’ll receive your full resolution image files by private download along with access to your personal online gallery – password protected and entirely under your control. The gallery password is yours to share with whoever you choose and we never give it out on your behalf.

Alongside your images you’ll also receive a highlights slideshow – a curated selection of pictures from the day set to music and delivered as a video file, perfect for watching together and sharing with the people who matter most.

Your gallery isn’t just for browsing. Yourselves, friends and family can use it to order prints and other products directly, delivered straight to their door without any hassle on your part. You’ll also receive a credit – valid for 3 months – so you can buy prints from the gallery and get them displayed quickly.

Do we get the high-resolution image files and can we print and share them?
As standard, we supply the fully-edited high-resolution digital image files from your wedding day and pre-wedding shoot via a private download.   You will receive the files in JPG format, in their  original resolution files suitable for printing.

Tell me about our private client gallery
All of our couples are given a private online gallery which features all of the final images from your wedding (and pre-wedding shoot, if you have one) plus the presentation slideshow.  You and your friends and family are welcome to browse through the files as often as you like and you are in control over who has access.  The gallery will remain online for six months but this can be extended on request.

What size are the image files on our download?
Our current cameras produce images at 24 megapixels so even after artistic cropping the files have enough resolution to print as large as you like.

Are the image files watermarked?
The files we provide on your download are completely free of watermarks.  Small copies downloaded from your private online gallery will have a small logo watermark in the corner.

Your wedding album

If you’ve included an album in your booking – or decided to add one along the way – this is where the journey takes a little longer, but it’s worth it!

Once you’ve received your images and had a chance to look through them properly, we’ll get to work on an initial album design. We put a lot of thought into how the pictures are sequenced and presented, and we’ll share the design with you for your feedback. Most couples only need a small number of changes before they’re happy to sign off.

Once the design is finalised we place the order with our album supplier and the finished album is usually with you within a month from that point.

How do we buy a wedding album?
Albums can be included in your booking package.  You can do this when you first book, or informing us before your final balance payment is due (4 weeks ahead).  Albums can also be purchased as a standalone item after the the wedding for a slightly higher cost.

Do we have any say over how the album will look?
Of course.  We see it as part of our service to guide you through the whole album process from start to finish. We will present an initial design based on what we think looks great. You are then welcome to ask for amendments and you’ll ‘sign off’ on the design once you’re happy. Most people generally only want a small number of alterations.

How many pictures can I have in my album?
We do not limit the number of pictures in albums but instead charge by the page. Bear in mind that the more pictures you have, the more crowded the album will look and cramming them in is never a good idea.

How long will it be before we receive our album?
Difficult to say because much of the time taken is waiting for you to come back with alteration requests and we never want you to rush this process.  We’ll usually provide the initial album designs within two months of delivering your wedding pictures, but it may take longer if we’re particularly busy.  Once you come back with alterations we’ll turn them around as quickly as possible.   Once the design is ‘signed off’ you’ll choose your cover and final options. Once the album is actually ordered with our supplier we usually have it back within a month.

How long are album prices valid for?
Because the album process can take a while we have to limit how long we can keep pricing static.  Album prices remain unchanged for six months after we provide the initial design layouts.  After six months we’re unable to protect you from any cost increases from our supplier, should there be any.  If you don’t come back within a year then there’ll be an additional £50 added to your album cost and the same for each subsequent year after that.

Where next?

So by now you should have a decent understand of how we handle your booking – but what about how we actually work?
