As we move a little further into our busy summer season, we come to Gill and David, who booked us just over a year ago for their wedding.  The ceremony was held at the couple’s local church – St Columba’s in Sutton Coldfield. This relatively modern building has plenty of space and light and was in contrast to the reception venue – the grand and stately Hagley Hall, in Worcestershire.

Gill and David had really gone all-out with decorations and details for their reception.   Aside from the film and literature memorabilia and the amazing flowers, there was one particular display which we really liked. In one of Hagley’s rooms – on a very large and grand table – were set out framed photos from previous family weddings. In one frame was a telegram sent to her grandmother by her fiancé, instructing her to arrange the wedding on a particular date as he would be home from serving abroad the day before. The date – quite by coincidence – was the date Gill and David got married all those years later.

It had been arranged for the guests to meet at a hotel not too far from the venue shortly after the wedding service. Once they’d checked into the hotel, they were transported together by coach to the reception. This meant we had some time with Gill and David at the venue before any of the guests were due to arrive, so we put the time to good use to get some pictures of them in and around this fabulous building.

We were keen to use as much of Hagley Hall’s building and grounds as we could.  Such a lovely couple to work with, Gill and David really gave us the time to indulge in a great variety of locations and set-ups during both the afternoon and evening sessions.    The photos we important to them and it showed.  :-)

We really liked working at Hagley Hall. Apart from the elegance of the building, the grounds provided plenty of opportunity for photos. But more than that, we found the staff to be friendly, helpful and kept things running nicely.  The staff can really make or break our impression of a venue and we were impressed with our experience here.    Each of the main rooms has a different look and ‘feel’, with plenty of space and fantastic high ceilings and it’s a venue we’d love to return to.
