Wedding at Coughton Court

A chilly day in November saw us in Warwickshire for the wedding of Helen and Mike at the fabulous Coughton Court, near Alcester.

About Coughton Court

Coughton Court (pronounced ‘coat-un’), a magnificent Tudor building dating from the 1500’s is owned by the National Trust, but leased as a home by the Throckmorton family, who have owned the estate since the 1400’s.  As a venue, it has hosted a limited number of weddings for many years, but this was the first one to be held inside the main house for more than 20 years.

Wedding Ceremony in St Peter’s Church, Coughton

All of the day’s events happened within the Coughton estate.  Helen and her bridesmaids got ready in the main bedroom before the service in St Peter’s Church, which sits right next to the main Coughton house.  This meant that there was no extra driving to do and all the guests could simply walk from one part of the venue to another.

The church was lovely to work in – lots of space and light with the added benefit of a rear balcony so that Sarah could get the Bride entry from a high vantage point.

Wedding reception at Coughton Court

As people were enjoying the drinks reception, we got to work on the formal group photos within the main courtyard and following this, we took Helen and Mike off alone for a short time to get the all-important couple pictures.

This was a cold, mostly grey winter’s day, but inside the house the atmosphere was warm and relaxed.  Coughton’s beautiful interiors made the perfect backdrop for the Mike and Helen’s day.  This wedding had a very ‘wintery’ feeling to it and the couple themselves were laid back and fun to work with.  Enjoy the pictures…
