“We are really grateful to Rob for what a wonderful job he did of photographing our wedding in September 2020. Obviously the last thing we thought we’d have to contend with during the planning stages was a global pandemic!  We’d like to thank him in joining us on a whirlwind of a journey, navigating through these times but we managed to pull it off, with beautiful images and memories that we’ll cherish!”

Mallory Court is a lovely hotel and wedding venue on the outskirts of Leamington Spa in the Warwickshire countryside.    Selina and Mark got married there on a beautifully warm and sunny September day.    They booked early in the year before Covid-19 became a ‘thing’.  They had a small wedding planned from the start so the restrictions in place by then didn’t impact their plans too much.

Although we’ve photographed many weddings at Mallory Court we’d not worked there for some years so it was great to be back, especially in the large and varied venue gardens which are just wonderful.

A Shorter Photography Option For A Smaller Wedding

Our options for shorter wedding days have been in place since long before Covid even existed, but they’ve become more popular as the pandemic restrictions have continued through the year.   This suited Selina and Mark perfectly and booked Rob for four hours, beginning shortly before the ceremony was due to start and going through until late afternoon.

Wedding Ceremony In The Knight’s Suite

The Knight’s Suite is quite a large space and is often used for large reception meals, however it can be sectioned off to form a smaller space which is where Selina and Mark’s socially-distanced wedding ceremony took place, with daylight flooding in through the skylight.  This was quite a quick ceremony but the registrars actually did a lovely job in making it feel special for the couple.

Drinks Reception & Afternoon Tea

Following the ceremony,  a quick excursion into the rose garden for a confetti throw was followed by drinks and afternoon tea in The Brasserie, which has its own walled garden.   Having the wedding in these areas meant that it could be kept completely private and separate from Mallory Court’s main house, which of course was open to regular hotel guests.

Couple Photos In The Mallory Court Gardens

Mallory Court’s gardens cover a large area and are split into several distinct areas.  No matter the time of the year or the weather, there’s always a choice of great spots to use for photos.

Following the afternoon tea and as the guests relaxed, Rob took Selina and Mark off for a bit of time alone, Although most of our work is undirected, the ‘couple’ photos are a key element of the day and we absolutely love doing them, especially in surroundings such as those found at Mallory Court.

First Dance, Chinese Tea Ceremony & Final Couple Photos

Selina and Mark had rehearsed a dance routine for some weeks prior to the wedding but due to the Covid restrictions at the time there was not to be any evening party.  Not wanting to miss out, Selina changed into a lighter dress and they performed their routine outside in the Brasserie garden instead!

Tea ceremonies are an important part of Chinese culture and are often performed at weddings as way of saying thank-you to parents. For this, Selina changed again – this time into a stunning red Chinese wedding dress.

It would have been a bit of shame not to feature the dress a little more, so we took the opportunity for a few more couple photos.  This was a great way to round off the photos for the day, as the light had turned a little softer and we had the time to venture a little further into the grounds.

Despite the restrictions and people staying in ‘bubbles’, this was an absolutely beautiful day and it really was great to be back at Mallory Court again.  A really big thank you to Selina and Mark.  :-)
