“Thank you so much for the wonderful photos – we are both completely bowled over by just how many there are and the quality is outstanding.”
Lorna and Luke are one of our couples who had to postpone their original date due to the pandemic. They settled on a new date in August ’22 for their wedding at Moxhull Hall near Sutton Coldfield. It had been a few years since our last visit so we were really looking forward to going back.
It’s no surprise that Moxhull Hall is a really popular wedding venue. It’s run as a family business, is busy through the year and has a fine reputation with couples and suppliers alike.
While Lorna started her day at home, the venue has ample rooms and facilities for getting ready. Luke and his groomsmen got ready in the dedicated ‘Groom’s Room’ – a nicely fitted out space where the men can relax and prepare for day. There’s also a dedicated ‘Bride’s Studio’ which Lorna and the bridesmaids waited in after arriving by car.
Moxhull Hall has always been lovely to photograph a wedding at and the venue has got better since our last visit. The owners have created an space for outdoor wedding ceremonies named The Secret Garden and it was here that Lorna and Luke got married before everyone made their way back onto the main terrace for drinks and canapes and group photos.
When it comes to ‘couple’ photos, Moxhull provides a rich environment. The grand staircase, beautiful gardens, pathways and portico all provide great spots for photos of the couple alone. We also jumped at the chance to use the gorgeous flower wall near the front entrance of the venue – another feature we’d not seen before.
We actually ended up doing three couple shoots with Lorna and Luke – a shortish one during the afternoon drinks, a slightly longer shoot after the speeches and a quick few minutes with them after the sun had gone down and before we finished our time with them. This is sometime we often do on summer weddings when the longer daylight hours allow. It means we can create pictures are different times of the day, but also means the couple gets plenty of time with their guests and don’t get too ‘photo’d out’. It was really lovely to be at a venue where the photo opportunities are so abundant and working with a couple who were so much fun. “Just be yourselves” we said to Lorna and Luke, and they did, not really stopping laughing together for most of the day!
A really big thank you to Lorna and Luke. Enjoy the pictures…
