Short coverage for a stylish small wedding

Jemma and Max got in touch just a few months prior to their wedding date.  They had planned a small celebration with just closest family and friends and only needed about three hours of photography, to cover arrivals, the ceremony and the first part of the reception.  They wanted a more candid, documentary approach so groups and couple photos were kept to a minimum.

Wedding ceremony at Shrewsbury Castle

Their civil wedding ceremony took place in the beautiful Shropshire town of Shrewsbury, with the ceremony at Shewsbury Castle.  As wedding photographers based in the Midlands, we get to visit some fabulous locations through all of the counties which make up this part of the the country.

The castle lies in the heart of Shrewsbury and while it’s small as castles go, is an imposing presence in the centre of town.  Shrewsbury Castle operates as a museum which the public are able to wander around, but it’s also available for civil weddings ceremonies in the 18th century Circular Room, designed by Thomas Telford.  Max arrived at the castle in his father’s beautiful red E-type Jaguar while Jemma arrived in style in a classic Rolls Royce!

Wedding reception at home

After a short drive out of town, it was time for an informal reception at Max’s parents’ beautiful home.  An open-sided marquee (provided by Freestretch) had been laid out on the lawn and canopes and meal were provided by Comyn Bruce, who specialise in luxury wedding catering.

Apart from a small handful of family group photos, this was a relaxed couple of hours when Max and Jemma could chat to their guests in the sunshine without any undue time pressures.  It was exactly how a small wedding should be and was an absolute joy to photograph.  Enjoy the pictures…
