“After capturing beautiful shots of my sister-in-law’s wedding in 2012 and my sister’s wedding in 2016, I didn’t hesitate to book Rob & Sarah for my own wedding in June 2018. From the previous weddings, I already knew they would provide us with amazing pictures and they did not disappoint.”
Referral weddings – where we’re booked based upon the recommendation from a previous couple – are always great to work on because you invariably get to see lots of familiar faces again. Laura and Tom’s wedding was a bit of a special one for us as they came to us after seeing the pictures we created for Laura’s sister Vicky and her husband Dave, two summers ago. In turn, Vicky booked us on the back of a recommendation from her (now) sister-in-law Jenny and her husband Scott, whose wedding we photographed way back in 2012. So in effect, this was a double referral as we’d worked with both the bride and groom’s family in the past. How brilliant is that!?
Swallows Nest Barn
Laura and Tom had chosen Swallows Nest Barn for their venue. Located deep in the Warwickshire countryside, but conveniently close to the M40, Swallows Nest is in the middle of a working arable farm, surrounded by crop fields and patches of woodland. We had popped down to the venue a few days prior to get a feel for the place, meet the wedding coordinator Verity and get a rough plan in mind for which areas to use for photos. We always do this at venues we’ve not previously worked at as we find it really helps us take advantage of both the building and grounds. We absolutely loved the setting for Swallows Nest and the barn itself is lovely, with great light throughout – including the area where the actual ceremony takes place. It’s always great to work a venue we’ve never visited before and Swallows Nest Barn lived up to it’s reputation. Great coordination between the staff, wonderful food and everything just ticked along very nicely indeed.
Gorgeous Weather & Lovely People
When the time came to steal Laura and Tom away from the party for a while, we were somewhat spoilt for choice for photo locations. As with most of our summer weddings, we did two sessions with them – the first a fairly quick one during the afternoon drinks and a second – slightly longer shoot – in the evening. Although starting off a little overcast, but by late afternoon the weather had turned clear and sunny and we took advantage of the conditions with Laura and Tom in the sun-drenched fields. Brilliant conditions for making photos. We got them back in plenty of time for the evening party, with entertainment provided by the brilliant Live Wires.
It’s always a great feeling when couples book you based upon the work you’ve done for the friends or relations. But, having photographed weddings for both sides of Laura and Tom’s family we just felt like part of the furniture! Lots of familiar faces and many of the guests recognising us. A lovely day all-round. Enjoy the photos!
For a referral wedding, we always make sure we get a picture of the couple we worked with previously, in this case from both sides of Laura and Tom’s family. That’s Vicky and Dave on the left and Jenny, Scott and their children on the right!
