Sitting in a central position within the Oxfordshire town, Woodstock Town Hall is a great venue for smaller civil weddings and it was here that Robin covered S&C’s laid-back wedding for a couple of hours on a sunny August afternoon.
S&C wanted as little formality to their wedding photos as possible and, apart from a portrait and a few minutes of ‘couple’ photos, all the photography was to be as undirected as possible.
Wedding ceremony in the Assembly Room at Woodstock Town Hall
S&C’s civil wedding ceremony took place in the ‘upstairs’ Assembly Room, which has plenty of natural light thanks to the large windows which look out over the town. The Assembly Room is used for many town events and activities and is decorated with large wall hangings depicting local history. Council ceremony rooms can often feel neutral and anonymous, but Woodstock’s Town Hall feels very much like an important part of the town and it seems particularly apt to use it as a place where local people get married.
Following the ceremony, everyone had chance to congratulate the couple in the sunshine outside. S&C didn’t want a list of group photos, so this time was spent capturing all the hugs and hubbub that always follows a wedding ceremony.
Reception at The Feathers Hotel
S&C had arranged for a drinks reception to be held at The Feathers Hotel, just a short walk from Woodstock Town Hall. A meal had been arranged for later that evening, but for now, it was just a time for everyone relax, mingle and to enjoy a drink.
Couple photos in Woodstock Town
Although S&C wanted to keep the vast majority of their photos informal and candid, they did also want a few ‘couple’ photos. Rather than drag them off for an extended photo shoot, Robin kept things super-local, using just the streets outside The Feathers and the Town Hall itself. Probably about 10 minutes’ worth of photos, but a perfect way to round off what had been a lovely couple of hours.
A really big thank-you the couple and to all of the guests who were a pleasure to spend time with.
Enjoy the photos…
