Wedding at Avoncroft Museum

Although we photograph weddings across Worcestershire, it always feels special when we return to our old favourite Avoncroft Museum, just a short drive from where we live.   We chose Avoncroft as the venue for our own wedding back in 2011 and despite photographing more weddings there than we care to count, it’s always a favourite venue of ours and one we never tire of working at.

A charity shop dress,
dinosaurs, steam engines
and a Dr Who cake!

There was a definite alternative edge to Jules and Joe’s day.  Jules’ wedding dress was purchased in a charity shop and washed in the bath (!) and replaced in the evening with a summery blue and white dress to tie in with the men’s blue suits.  Two of the guests got dressed up in t-rex costumes during the afternoon drinks (well, why not?) and purely by coincidence their wedding day was held on the same day Avoncroft hosted the Firing Up for Father’s Day weekend event which included a procession of stream traction engines around the museum grounds.  Just too good an opportunity to miss, we got Jules and Joe riding on one of them later in the day when the public had left.  Even their wedding cake was something a bit different – a perfectly lovely wedding cake from the front, but turned around it revealed the Tardis from Dr Who and the couple’s two dogs!  Brilliant!
