“Robin was great on the day, super friendly and professional and he took us to some great locations. They are all amazing, exactly what we wanted. The slideshow with music was also a lovely extra and a great way to show our photos to friends and family. Thank you!!”
We’re Robin and Sarah and we regularly photograph weddings in Warwickshire, including at The Henley Room in Stratford-upon-Avon. It’s a popular choice for couples planning a small, intimate civil ceremony and is a venue we know well, having worked there many times over the years. We know how to work the room and where the best nearby spots are for relaxed couple portraits afterwards. We’re also familiar with several of the local restaurants and hotels around Stratford that are popular choices as reception venues.
Our approach at The Henley Room is simple: we focus on real moments as they happen, without staging, from the point when you and your guests arrive through to natural, relaxed portraits around Stratford-upon-Avon. It’s a venue that suits our shorter coverage options with one photographer perfectly.
We’re based near Bromsgrove and work through all the Midlands counties and further across the UK.
Wedding Photography at The Henley Room
The Henley Room is a popular choice for couples planning a small, relaxed civil wedding in Stratford-upon-Avon. The ceremony space is intimate, but instead of feeling like an anonymous space, the windows look out onto Henley Street, with shoppers and tourists walking by, so you really do feel like you’re getting married in a busy town location.
When photographing the ceremony we’ll work quietly and discreetly, capturing the genuine interactions of your vows, ring exchange and readings from your guests. Because the space is compact, there’s no need for us to move around much and we always work in cooperation with the venue staff to ensure we’re in the right spot at the right times.
After the ceremony – hugs, kisses and group photos
You’re married! Once you’ve signed the marriage register you’ll leave the The Henley Room out onto bustling Henley Street. Expect a few shouts of ‘congratulations!’ from shoppers and tourists!
Something to remember, is that for safety reasons Stratford-upon-Avon district council do not allow confetti to be thrown on the street outside The Henley Room. However alternatives can be used, such as bubbles and ribbon wands, which still make for great photos.
As your guests follow you outside everyone will be congratulating you with a hug or a shake of the hand and these moments are photographed without interruption. It’s a few minutes of unguarded moments that we love to capture for you.
Once the initial congratulations have settled down, it’s time to get your arranged group photos done. There are planned in advance with you so nobody gets forgotten and they’re usually photographed right outside The Henley Room or in the vicinity.
Natural couple portraits near The Henley Room
One of the advantages of getting married at The Henley Room is its location in the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon. After the ceremony, there are many nearby spots that work beautifully for relaxed couple portraits – all within walking distance of The Henley Room.
How long you want to give to this part of the day is your choice but we’ll have a chat in advance of the wedding day so you have a clear idea of what’s possible within the time you’ve booked.
Some of the lovely photo spots include:
- The marina and waterside
- The theatres around Swan Gardens
- The beautiful old buildings around Chapel St, Old Town and others
Our couple portraits are simple and informal and are less about ‘posing’ and more about enjoying a bit of time away from the crowd. We want these pictures to reflect your personalities and we love to show off the architecture and surroundings to give your pictures context.

Photography at your wedding reception in Stratford-upon-Avon – a choice of venues
Stratford-upon-Avon has many restaurants and hotels which are great locations for reception drinks and a meal after a ceremony at The Henley Room. If you’d like photography at your reception this can be included at the end of your coverage and of course you can book for a longer period of time to incorporate more of the reception, including speeches if required.
Some of the reception locations we’ve worked at in combination with The Henley Room are:
- The Woodsman (part of Hotel Indigo) on Chapel St
- The Arden Hotel on Chapel Lane
- The Townhouse, on Chapel St
- Cox’s Yard, next to the River Avon on Bridge Foot.
- The Vinter on Sheep St
- River cruise with Bancroft Cruises
Why choose us for your wedding at The Henley Room?
Our experience at the venue:
We’ve photographed a couple of dozen or more weddings at The Henley Room, usually followed by a photo walk for the couple around Stratford-upon-Avon. We know how the venue works and lots of great photo spots around the town as well as several of the popular hotels and restaurants used for receptions.
Pictures that are honest, wholesome and good for the soul:
Weddings are interesting just as they are, so we don’t worry about trying to follow trends or the latest social media fads – wed just capture the day for real. People book us because they love how we work and the natural, honest style of photos we produce.
Flexibility of coverage:
Because weddings at The Henley Room tend to be smaller, they generally work very well with our part day coverage options. Many only require a simple two hours of coverage with one photographer (Robin), sometimes going longer if more is required at the reception, or if the wedding is continuing at another venue outside of Stratford. Our options begin at two hours and go up to half-day and beyond, so there’s a choice for everyone.
